The CIPP/C exam assesses understanding and application of Canadian information privacy laws, principles and practices at the federal, provincial and territorial levels. It consists of 90 multiple-choice questions, has an allotted time of 2.5 hours with a 15-minute break and must be completed within one year of purchase.
Exam administration
Exam can be taken either virtually from your home or office, or in-person at a test center.
- In-person test takers can choose from over 6,000 Pearson VUE test centers across the globe.
- Remote test takers will find hundreds of virtual exam appointments available daily through Pearson VUE’s OnVue program.
Scheduling is done through the Pearson VUE website, which is accessed through the “My Purchases” section of your MyIAPP account.
Certification maintenance
Upon passing your exam, you will need to purchase a Certification Maintenance Fee to activate your certification, and again for each two-year certification term.
- For IAPP members, the fee is built into membership benefits.
- Non-member test takers are encouraged to purchase the Certification Maintenance Fee at the time of exam purchase so it will activate automatically upon passing the exam.
