The CIPP/CN exam assesses knowledge of the three major data protection laws (PIPL, DSL and CSL) that govern Chinese privacy and validates understanding of Chinese data governance and personal information protection in multiple sectors. The exam consists of 90 multiple-choice questions, has an allotted time of 2.5 hours with a 15-minute break, and must be completed within one year of purchase.
Exam administration
Exam can be taken either virtually, from your home or office, or in person at a testing location.
- In-person test takers can choose from over 6,000 Pearson VUE testing locations across the globe.
- Remote test takers will find hundreds of virtual exam appointments available daily through Pearson VUE’s OnVue scheduling platform.
Scheduling is done through the Pearson VUE website. Access the site through the “My Purchases” section of your MyIAPP account.
Certification maintenance
Upon passing your exam, you will need to pay a certification maintenance fee to activate your certification, and again for each two-year certification term.
- For IAPP members, the fee is included as part of membership benefits.
- Nonmember test takers are encouraged to pay the certification maintenance fee at the time of exam purchase so the certification will activate automatically upon passing the exam.
